I have a thing for Islands
Hammamet, TUNISIA
Unfortunately, beach wise, it makes me a little pickier than say maybe someone who was born in England. However, South East Asia never fails to impress me. Thailand's beaches were beautiful, the islands off of Bali in Indonesia were just untouched perfection and Cambodia did not disappoint either.
Angkor Wat was the main pull to go to Cambodia, but I am a beach bum so I couldn't get myself to skip Sihanoukville in the southern part of Cambodia before heading to Siem Reap . Plus my brother had insisted I stop there and check out the beach town.
So after 3 intense days in Vietnam and a 16 hour long journey, I found myself waking up in Sihanoukville. However no matter how tired I was, I couldn't get myself to stay still and "just" lay on the beautiful beach in Sihanoukville. Don't get me wrong, it was very nice - check out the photos below.
But I have a thing for islands ...
There is just a peace you experience on islands that's different from mainland, and I wanted a piece of that, even if just for a few hours. So I booked the 45 minute ferry from Sihanouville to Koh Rong Samlon at 11 am. Of course, it was running island time, so we left at 12 pm instead and the last ferry was at 4 pm. But regardless those three hours were 200% worth it, don't you think?
Are you an island person too?
