Dominican Paradise

Last weekend wasn't my first time in Dominican Republic, however it was the first time I truly enjoyed myself in Santo Domingo.

Same city, same beautiful weather, but this time around I wasn't a tourist and that made the whole difference. The drinks were better, the food was better and the beach was better.

I was lucky to attend an incredibly fun wedding, had the best sancocho and  chichorron ever and I probably had more chinola aka passion fruit daiquiris than I should have ...  And the best part of all of this is that my brother is getting married in Punta Cana in a few months, so I get to do all of the above all over again very soon.

So my advice to you is make a Dominican friend and try scoring an invite: it's the best way to discover DR. And if you fail at that, go anyways and definitely go for Sunday Brunch at Neptunos in Boca Chica. The decor itself is amazing, the drinks are yummy, the fried calamari is the best I have ever had, and the location is just incredible.

Also check out Mercado Colon if you want to discover where the cool locals hang out and to devour some good food. Whatever you are into, name it and will probably find there:  tapas, chichorron, sancocho, pizza, and of course Criollisimos sweet treats 'cause we all know that desserts is an essential part of life. For my Nutella lovers out there, they serve a Nutella Pizza as well. Yum!

So don't ever judge a entire country based on your tiny little experience. It is just one experience. I gave a second shot to DR and it was totally worth it.

Special thanks to Hector 1 for being an incredible host

And also for taking one of the many selfies I asked him to - his arm is longer than mine -:)
