Peace Takes Everyone
Last week I feared for Paris. Yesterday, I feared for Mali. Today I fear for Tunisia. But I especially fear for the innocent kids coming into this scary world we live in.
I fear that this scary and sad situation is going to escalate and that our kids won't even blink when they hear about yet another attack, not because they don't have hearts, but because it is their daily routine.
I know my words won't change the heart of these monsters - they have none, but I hope it will change the way my generation thinks. Not as a country or a religion, but just as humans who love each other and respect each other regardless of country of birth and religious beliefs.
I have no allegiance to any religion, not even to a country. I am one of those bastards children, with no nationality, who doesn't really belong anywhere. Of course I am proud of my Tunisian culture and my American blood. But what if there was war between Tunisia and the United States of America ... who should I pick? My dad's country or my mom's? Or should I throw a dice and see what happens?
No. None of us should have to pick a side. We should all be united because we are all Human.
Today, when I heard about the explosion in Tunisia killing 11 people I cried again. I was scared, again. My dad, my mom, my cousins, my friends, so many important people could have been there. My childhood house is just a few minutes away.
I guess one day without fearing someone I love is dead is too much to ask.
Whoever you are, I wonder what you are trying to do.
Stop us from eating what we want, wearing the clothes we like, listen to the music we enjoy? Is that really what you are worried about? It all seems so futile to lead to death, doesn't it? Aren't there worst sins in this world?
