My Secret Wish in Dublin
When I flew to Dublin, it was after a long day of mounting an Ikea dresser. Needless to say I was exhausted. And secretly, I was hoping for a gloomy rainy day so I could stay tucked into my hotel room all day without feeling bad about it. Sleeping from 11 am to dinner time was my secret wish. And since Dublin is not exactly known for its sunny beaches, I expected the weather to comply with my wish.
It didn't. And I am so glad it didn't. Yes my eyes hurt like hell when I opened them after a quick two hour nap, but Dublin was so beautiful that I forgot all about it and was up until 2 am.

So here is all you can do next time you find yourself in Dublin, even for just 24 hours.
I started with walking through Saint Stephen's Green. The fall leaves on the huge trees were just spectacular, the water pond was just adorable and the flower beds were still very colorful.
I then walked through Grafton street and window shopped until I found myself facing Saint Ann's Church. Beautiful.
The Bookstore, Hodges & Jiggs just a few feet further down is also worth a few minutes of your time. Then at the end of the road is one of the top attractions in Dublin: Trinity College, which when my friend Ines mentioned to me I honestly thought she meant it as a joke, as in I should go check out the hot colleges boys. But when Siri also said to go there, I figured maybe I had misunderstood my friend and should go.

Well it is a good thing I didn't study in Dublin 'cause I wouldn't have been in a hurry to graduate. I thought it would be a quick stop but I spent a good hour there. The architecture was beautiful and art was present at every corner.
The Dublin Castle was also amazing, as well as every church we stumbled into.
But my favorite part, and no I am not an alcoholic, was the Vintage Cocktail Club on Crown Alley. Of course, speakeasy's are always fun. But drinks are not always as amazing as you expect, and some have weird seating rules - no more than 4, only 1 drink allowed etc ...

But not the VCC. The drinks are outrageously good, and surprisingly for a bar, the food is tremendous, and I am definitely a foodie and kind of a pain to please in the food department as well as the drink department.
When Ines and I arrived, we figured we would just have a small appetizer with our drink, but we ended up ordering even more drinks and having dinner tapas style.
Unfortunately I don't remember the name of all the drinks we ordered, but here a few pointers: Order the Millionaire - it is not in the menu and I have no idea what it is made with, but order it for sure - and have the Fried Brussel Sprouts and Yellow Fin Tuna and Avocado Salad. So tasty! Next time I am ordering the Rack of Lamb for sure and a million desserts too. Best Speakeasy Ever!
