MEAN GIRLS

If you could be a fly on the wall on girl's night, I promise you, you wouldn't be disappointed. Or maybe I should say I promise you, you will be disappointed,. It depends which way you are looking at and more exactly what you are looking for. 

If you are looking to know exactly how your girlfriends feel about you, I mean total honesty, you will not be disappointed. I can assure you that at least one comment about you will be made by at least one of your girlfriends. I am not saying it will necessarily be a negative comment, but well let's be honest here, girls are no angels. 

Which brings me to the reason why I think you will be disappointed. We all want to believe that the girls we choose to be our girlfriends are nice sweet good girls. Nobody wants to be part of the mean girl's club. But regardless of what we want, friendships sometimes just happen, and next thing you know, you are having drinks with Tiffany and she is D-E-S-T-R-O-Y-I-N-G Melanie.

You don't understand what is going on because Melanie introduced you to Tiffany and you thought those two were BFFs, but apparently it might be one sided. Or maybe next time you see Melanie, she will have "something" to say about Tiffany. So why are they still friends? Why would you stay friends with someone you disliked? Or someone you were jealous of?


It beats me, especially since I don't even understand how you can be jealous of a friend to begin with, because I truly have many friends who have much more material things than I do or have accomplished much more than I have, but I have always been happy for them. If they are happy, I am happy. That simple. But with some "girlfriends," it's almost like if you are happy, they wish you were less happy. And if you are miserable, then they are happy.  In Arabic, we have a specific expression for that -- "metefrahlikch." It means she is upset at your happiness. DANGEROUS! Trust me. 

I also think it is really weird when girlfriends are jealous of other girlfriends looks. I have girlfriends  who are 100% hotter than I am, but it doesn't bother me in the least. I consider myself a 7 out of 10 on the hotness scale while some of my girlfriends are for sure 10 out of 10.
PS:  this scale excludes women like Gisele Bundchen and Miranda Kerr of course - it wouldn't be fair to us normal gals if they were included since none of are even a 5 compared to them. But back to the whole beauty thing.

I guess I could have brought my friend's picture to a plastic surgeon and said "Make me Her!" but I don't like pain and/or unnecessary trips to the doctor. So no surgery for me. Plus I don't care at all what my friends look like. Friendship is not a beauty conquest, is it? I never said or even thought "oh no -:( she  looks better than I do." Yeah a "friend" of mine said that to me a few days ago. Really?? Can we maybe stop being friends 'cause it seems you are hating on me. But oh no, I get messages with hearts the next day.  

Ever felt that a girlffriend didn't really like "LIKE" you? I know this might sound weird, but if you are a girl, I think you will understand. And if you are a guy, just be happy you don't have to deal with this ****

Imagine dating your computer

Saturday night I went to the theater and saw the movie " HER " by director Spike Jonze and I have to say, even though I liked the movie, it could have been better if someone had introduced us before hand. I could have made it better because we could have used stuff from my book . This is the part where you think I am super full of himself for saying that a Hollywood director should collaborate with me. You might even wonder: did she really write that and go back to read the paragraph again. Don't bother. I did. You didn't misread. But I promise I am not full of myself. I loved the movie. Rude or not?

A few weeks ago, a flight attendant working with me on a flight to India approached me and asked if she could ask me a personal question. "Sure," I replied. "Don't get me wrong, you are beautiful," she said. I remember thinking "wow it is starting really good - what will follow is going to be really bad." But it wasn't. She noticed I had acne and knew of a treatment to fix it. I laughed and told her to relax. Why would I be offended? I was thankful, and if you ever had acne, you can relate because you probably tried a million of creams and lotions, which all failed, so even a glimpse of  hope meant something. And that's exactly what Carmen gave me: HOPE. However when a stranger approached me yesterday with his business card and said to call him because he had something that would fix my skin, I was a little annoyed. I felt that it was out of place for a stranger to mention anything about my skin or anything else for that matter....
