Don't trust the WEATHERMAN
Before planning a trip, most of us do two things: Google all possible activities & check the Weather App. I only do the Google thing ... I don't trust the weatherman, and for good reason, he is usually wrong.
So while enjoying our last evening in Cape Town, my partner in crime Deidre and I were of course plotting our next stop. We had not come so far for "just" one stamp on our passports. We needed one more before heading back to the U.S. After going through hundreds of possibilities, the last two contenders were Mozambique and Mauritius.
On the one hand, Mozambique sounded fantastic, but we only had 3 days left and felt it wasn't enough to explore. On the other hand, three days in Mauritius seemed enough to do most of what we wanted to do - which was drink, eat and tan, but the weather was not promising. It said rain rain and more rain.
We were about to cancel our escapade and "just" got to Dubai when Deidre's genius mind went into play. She checked Instagram. And this is what she found:
Seven hours later, we were in Mauritius. Clear blue sky, shining sun: we were psyched. But then it started raining and Deidre and I exchanged looks: did Instagram lie to us? Who knows with all those filters? Maybe there was a new filter called "no rain."
Luckily, after about 5 minutes, the rain stopped, and as an added bonus we got to see a beautiful rainbow -:)
It didn't rain once for the rest of the trip or should I say my trip. At some point, Deidre and I separated and I went paragliding while Deidre was enjoying cocktails at the beach. Clear blue sky on my side of the island, monsoon on Deidre's side, but she said it didn't last long and the beautiful beaches were worth getting a little soaked. Truly the island was even prettier than the Instagram pics we had seen or even our own pictures:
An old friend of mine did once. She missed out on an awesome trip to Mexico because the weatherman said it was tornado season and the chances of rain were 100%. Not even one drop of a rain during our 7 day stay in Cozumel and Playa del Carmen. See for yourself --> Not even one little drop. NADA -:)
