Airbnb Virgins
Airbnb used to be my way to save money. Now it is more about discovering cute residential neighborhoods, uniquely decorated apartments and incredible people.
My latest Airbnb experience was in Johannesburg, and I have to handed it to Bev, she is the creme de la creme, my TOP 1 and will probably remain in that position for a while.
First her house was amazing and decorated very elegantly - she is an interior designer so that makes sense.

Both morning she prepared the most amazing breakfast: scrambled eggs with fresh herbs and handpicked tomatoes from her own garden, fresh croissants, fresh juice - not even 4 star hotels offer that.
Nowadays hotel's specialities are eggs from a carton and juice from a box. If I get a fresh pressed orange juice, I consider myself lucky, really lucky, and I of course have to pay $10 for it 'cause it's organic and bla bla bla.

Bev also arranged for us to have a great visit in Soweto, the historical part of Joburg, and as our guide said "if you have not seen Soweto, you have not seen South Africa." We also got to meet some great people in Kliptown who work for the Kliptown Youth Program. More about that on my next post.
Unfortunately we had to leave way too fast. We had a total of only 8 days in South Africa with about 500 activities to cover. So after day 2, we had to say our goodbyes to Bev. But again she went above and beyond and wouldn't let us go without a farewell drink: gin and tonic with of course fresh mint from the garden, but not just for Tyson and I, her Airbnb guests, but for Deidre, Brian and Diego as well, our friends who had just landed from Abu Dhabi.
EVER STAYED AT A HOTEL WITH THIS KIND OF SERVICE?
I know I never did.
