The "UNDIET"

I have never cared about my weight. My cousin Minouch on the other hand, well she has always cared about my weight. Yes you read the sentence right. This is not a typo. She cares about MY weight, a lot, always making comments that I should shed a few pounds. But not to worry, it comes in one ear and goes out the other.

Of course, she cares about her weight as well. She is usually a size 0, but on a few rare off days, she will go up to a size 2.

I am size 2 if I stop breathing. But in order to stay alive and well, I usually breath on a regular basis and I am a happy -alive- size 4. A pretty healthy size for my body height. However, when my clothes start to fit tight, I do get a bit annoyed, which pushes me to exercise more, but never diet.

See I LOVE food. So my motto has always been saying YES to food and just run more than usual to burn off the calories. So when I read that to lose weight the magical formula was 20% exercise and 70% dieting, I wanted to cry. It meant that all of my exercising was not enough to counter the effects of my almost daily servings of delicious crispy truffle fries and orgasmic Hagen Daz praline ice cream. Would I really have to give it all up just to fit in my clothes?

Add to that the pressure of  summer starting in just a few weeks, and here I am wondering about diets and for the first time in my life, I googled diets. It felt wrong. But then I stumbled on Glamour's article "This Summer Do the Un-Diet," I felt like screaming "Hurray!" I would still lose weight, but it was not a diet, it was the "Un-Diet."

But all the stuff was advice I already follow, have breakfast, watch your alcohol consumption, don't buy unhealthy stuff ... Etc etc etc ...

So I continued googling, but this time instead of googling diets, I googled the term "UNDIET." And I found this article on Curvy Magazine and thought "Hurray!" again, but no such luck. The advice given included the words: control avoid, and substitute. Sounds like diet to me -:( and the usual "you are what you eat.

Do you have any advice for weight loss without dieting? Or do you think it is plain impossible and I need to just suck it up and give up Hagen Daz? I am not giving up the fries, that's for sure.
