"French are #### "

If you are French, please keep reading. I promise this post is not what you think it is.

However, if you know someone who has been to France, especially Paris, no matter where you are from or where you live, chances are pretty high that you have heard this sentence: "Paris was sooo beautiful, but French people were soooo rude."

Well I have heard this about not just French. Some friends of mine said the same of Jamaicans and I totally disagree. My trip to Jamaica was fabulous and people were extremely nice and hospitable. I have also heard that Japanese people are very helpful, and I couldn't disagree more. My friend and I left Japan two days early, that's how terrible of a time we had. However, my boyfriend was there with no IPhone, no Ipad, basically no technology to get around, and to my big surprise, he came back praising how helpful and nice Japanese people were to him.

My point, obviously is that we shouldn't make generalizations. But it's not that easy when traveling. It
takes one bad experience and then our mind is made up, but really no country is plain rude. There is good and bad everywhere, right?

There must, because this weekend, I met three different people praising the French. Nobody said they were rude. All I heard was good stuff. Of course they all said Paris was beautiful, but for once the compliment was not followed by a long list of "but."

Do you think these people got lucky? Or are French becoming more tolerant of foreigners trying to say "Bonjour" with a terrible accent?

See how much you could save ...

Perhaps it just the Parisians though, and not all French ... Or maybe, just MAYBE, French people have been stereotyped wrongfully all this time?

If you decide to answer my questions, and I hope you do, please include where you are from. I am curious to see who thinks what and if I have a good response to this post, I might start a monthly poll about racial stereotypes which could potentially be very interesting.

See I am African American and also Arabic ... But since there is "no way the white flight attendant with green eyes, blonde hair and a French accent is from North Africa," people are not shy about sharing their stereotypical views with me about me!

I am always happy to point out to them that not all people from Africa are Black and that all Arabs
don't have dark curly hair, a burqa covering their face, and heavy hatred towards Jews. We are all humans beings and they are rude people in every country. Or else please give me directions to the "rude-free" land. I want to go.

Do you see anywhere on that list that the rest of the world not speaking your native language is rude?
