MIRACLE CREAM
At age 26, I am still struggling with my skin and I am sure I am not the only one.
Some days - the good mood days - I look at my skin and see great improvement. Then on the bad mood days, all I see are the pimples, the redness and the obvious need for a ton of foundation. But which foundation? Was there a cream out there to make it all go away?
A year ago, a friend recommended me Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. She said the product was amazing. I believed her. Why would she lie? It is not like her parents owned the brand. But after a few applications, I was disappointed. There was no wow effect after applying the cream. And yes I patted it in, I did not rub it. I followed the instructions but the results didn't follow. I was bummed.
I was not the only one. I stumbled upon the makeupalley website and I found other unhappy customers.
I also found what seemed to be positive reviews. One said that "it was hard to describe what it does." Perhaps because it doesn't do much. Then she continued on to say that it made her "skin under her foundation look really great." If you have foundation on, may I ask how you can see your skin under it? I didn't get it. Another reviewer said the "afterglow of my skin is amazing when I am all done up in my makeup." Yeah sure after spending an hour using foundation, green colored pimple concealer, dark circle eye concealer, blush, mascara and a million other products, you look amazing. Me too! But isn't the product called Beauty Flash? Flash meaning it will make you look good quick ... It didn't.
So why did I buy another miracle cream a few months ago? Well because us girls like to believe in miracles ... aka desperation.
Anyhow, my friend recommended me to buy Face Shop BB Cream. Supposedly it would cover up
my pimples and any redness while hydrating my face and all this with a natural look. I was sold! - I was stupid.
How would a girl like Elena know that the cream covered pimples? Or redness? She didn't have any. She had that perfect skin that every woman envied. White porcelain complexion with pink cheeks and not a single wrinkle - at age 36. It was hard not to hate her. But of course I only asked myself those questions after I had bought the cream and had realized it made me look as white as a vampire - a vampire with pimples of course since none of the redness was covered by the cream.
Out of curiosity, I checked makeupalley.com again. Many people loved it and swore by the brand, but I found other people who compared themselves to ghosts after using it. Then I found the one review that, in my opinion, really summed all of this up. "If you are fair skinned and can match one of the shades, do not have oily skin, and are not prone to breakouts," it is a great cream to apply.
So basically, if you already have perfect skin, all these creams promise to keep it that way and not ruin it for you. But if you have any skin issues, don't expect any improvement. Nothing will work
aside from makeup.
Not fair, but it is the truth. Isn't it?
