STALKING IDEA


I read an article today and it gave me an idea: I am going to stalk my prospective boss. I still need to figure out who will be the lucky winner of my genius idea, but it will be soon.

I love being a flight attendant, but writing is what really fulfills me. I self published book number one, working on book number two but what I really want is to write for a magazine on a regular basis and sending resumes has not gotten me anywhere.

Hopefully this stalking idea will not get me in jail or anything like that. I am not going to do this kind of stalking:




But if Cosmo's fashion market director Shiona Turini got a job at Yves Saint Laurent by going to their offices again and again and again, until they gave in and she became an intern which lead into a job, well maybe I should do the same.

I just need to figure out where I really really want to work, find the address and relentlessly show my face until someone decides to give me a chance instead of sending resumes all over the map with no result.

Yes a part of my brain is telling me this might be a weird plan, but as Fitzgerald said writers aren’t people exactly. Or, if they’re any good, they’re a whole lot of people trying so hard to be one person. Today part of my brain that thinks it is a good idea is winning.

Imagine dating your computer

Saturday night I went to the theater and saw the movie " HER " by director Spike Jonze and I have to say, even though I liked the movie, it could have been better if someone had introduced us before hand. I could have made it better because we could have used stuff from my book . This is the part where you think I am super full of himself for saying that a Hollywood director should collaborate with me. You might even wonder: did she really write that and go back to read the paragraph again. Don't bother. I did. You didn't misread. But I promise I am not full of myself. I loved the movie. Rude or not?

A few weeks ago, a flight attendant working with me on a flight to India approached me and asked if she could ask me a personal question. "Sure," I replied. "Don't get me wrong, you are beautiful," she said. I remember thinking "wow it is starting really good - what will follow is going to be really bad." But it wasn't. She noticed I had acne and knew of a treatment to fix it. I laughed and told her to relax. Why would I be offended? I was thankful, and if you ever had acne, you can relate because you probably tried a million of creams and lotions, which all failed, so even a glimpse of  hope meant something. And that's exactly what Carmen gave me: HOPE. However when a stranger approached me yesterday with his business card and said to call him because he had something that would fix my skin, I was a little annoyed. I felt that it was out of place for a stranger to mention anything about my skin or anything else for that matter....
