Imagine dating your computer

Saturday night I went to the theater and saw the movie "HER" by director Spike Jonze and I have to say, even though I liked the movie, it could have been better if someone had introduced us before hand. I could have made it better because we could have used stuff from my book.

This is the part where you think I am super full of himself for saying that a Hollywood director should collaborate with me. You might even wonder: did she really write that and go back to read the paragraph again. Don't bother. I did. You didn't misread.

But I promise I am not full of myself. I loved the movie. It was brilliant. If you don't know what I am talking about, here is a quick synopsis: a lonely almost divorced guy writes love letters for a living but cannot seem to communicate with the people around him. He then falls in love with his OS. Sadly OS is not some sort of code for Obnoxious Secretary, it is an operating system. The man falls in love with his computer, who ends up breaking up with him. Sounds like a normal relationship - aside from the computer part, huh?

The movie is not just a satire, it is much more, it makes you think. How come a person can fall in love with his computer? I know it sounds crazy ... And you will say it is just a movie. It doesn't happen that way in real life .... But long distance seems stupid, even impossible to some people, yet other people make it work. Also how many times did you see people smile at their smartphones during dinner while not uttering one word to their date sitting right across from them? Or perhaps the question should be how many times did you?

So what defines a relationship? Touching a person, seeing a person or just talking to a person? Then why not just talk to your computer ... Just don't piss it of, it might break up with you and you will end up just like this:

In front of your computer, with a broken heart, and no closure. Yes no closure, just a bunch of unanswered questions 'cause remember we have established that closure was a big lie in the Break Up App post.

So why do I think director Spike Jonze and I should meet? Not to make his movie better ... That would be presumptuous, but so he can read my book about our addiction to Facebook and smartphones and transform it into a brilliant movie. So anyone who knows him, don't hesitate to let him know about my offer :)
