Mesdemoiselles Madeleines
For all my followers out there, I apologize. I know I said I would post about an amazing dessert a few days ago and didn't, but I have a good reason for disappearing. One of my best friends got married this weekend and without exaggerating only got about 10 hours of sleep in 4 days.
But now I am back. And here is all you need to know about Mesdemoiselles Madeleines: it is even better than a La Durée macaroon. If you appreciate fine things in life and have a sweet tooth, you probably ate a La Durée macaroon while in Paris. Well now you have to add to your to do list a madeleine from Mesdemoiselles Madeleines.
what I call a blurry weekend
But now I am back. And here is all you need to know about Mesdemoiselles Madeleines: it is even better than a La Durée macaroon. If you appreciate fine things in life and have a sweet tooth, you probably ate a La Durée macaroon while in Paris. Well now you have to add to your to do list a madeleine from Mesdemoiselles Madeleines.
These small rich cakes, baked in a shell-shaped mold are already delicious "nature," but add some raspberry or some caramel or some black olives ... yes I said black olives ... and your memory of what a madeleine is will completely change. For the better.
I was amazed, and you will be too, by the way the owner Steve Seremes and the pastry chef Stéphane Bour reinvented the madeleine: a true gift to anyone with appreciation for fine foods and truly the entire collection will suprise you. It is unique and D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S, and definitely a must try if you are lucky enough to find yourself in Paris soon.
If you are not, but are lucky enough to be dating a flight attendant or even just being friends with one, perhaps you can convince her or him to go Rue des Martyrs and pick some up for you.
Until next time we meet ... Live, Love, Laugh & Travel & Bon Appetit
