THE NOT SO BLONDE TRAVEL

They say to really know someone, travel with them. It is sooooo true. Some people are all about planning every detail and booking luxury 5 star hotels months in advance. And some are all about last minute plans and adventure.  I am not saying one is better than the other ( obviously adventure is so much cooler. ) But it is definitely important that you and your significant other are on the same page.  My hubby and I are definitely Mr & Mrs flexible. Often enough, we have no idea where we are staying until we get there. When the doctor said I couldn’t get on a plane for at least 10 days and I had to cancel my trip to Seattle and my trip to San Fran, what other choice did I have then to drive to Sequoia National Park to go explore?  None ...  It was evident that waking up at 6 am, driving 280 miles to explore the sequoias for 5 hours and driving back another 280 miles that same day was the only option left for my wanderlust travel addicted soul.  Of course, if I were a sane and reasonable human being, I would have stayed home, in between the bazillion soft blankets scattered in our living room and binge-watched a show on Netflix. I am not a fan of -20 degrees. Nobody really is, and everyone said I was crazy to go to Alaska in the winter. "It's going to be dark all day" is what I heard over and over again.  But since Alaska meant dog sledding with beautiful huskies and a high probability of catching the northern lights, I didn't care. I packed my snowboarding pants and jacket, 15 pair of socks, 10 sweaters, multiple leggings and I bought shoes that I thought would protect me from the extreme temperatures of Fairbanks.  They did not. Yet I have no regrets at all. Alaska was even more beautiful and more wild then I thought it would be. And it was sunny.
