When are you getting married?

Image
I would have never thought thid day would come, but here it is.  Apparently dealing with society and/or our parents driving us crazy because we are 28 years-old and not married yet is not enough ... Now our friends are joining the party.  Whether sending you websites with dating apps to join ... Or trying to set you up on dates with guys that are exactly "your type" ... Or my personal favorite: just plain asking you "so when are you going to get married?" Well, and I know this is a surprise to all, but it is really, REALLY, R-E-A-L-L-Y hard to pinpoint your wedding date when you don't have a groom to marry. I guess if you were crazy enough you could plan a date, hire a caterer, and send out invites, and then hope a guy proposes before the date you planned in your head -:) But I am not crazy. And no I am not against marriage. I think if I were to find the right guy, we would make adorable little babies and live happily ever after. Yes just like ...

I am not "just" SINGLE

Image
Being single is fun, but sometimes being the only single person in a group of friends can be a little tiring. It's like they forget that you are a person with a job, hobbies, dreams etc ... All they want to talk about is if you are dating or not, who you are dating and why you are not going on date number 2  etc ... Well sometimes I don't have an answer to all of those questions, and sometimes I just don't feel like talking about it. But it doesn't matter to them. They are in a relationship, they don't get to date, so you become their Carrie Bradshaw and well, I am sure it was fun for Sarah Jessica Parker to play Carrie in Sex and the City but it was a show and this is real life.  And the last weeks in my real life have been crazy. I have been super busy finding an apartment in NYC - not an easy task by any means - and honestly, putting together my bed, my sofa, my coffee table and my multiple dressers has been my priority over going for dinner with...

Finance Boys a.k.a Superman

Image
I live in New York, so naturally when I meet guys, they are either in finance or in finance. And no I am not exaggerating. Even if they are lawyers, they are corporate lawyers writing briefs for their banker friends down the block at mergers and acquisitions, aka finance. I know some girls reading this post are thinking: what's wrong with being in finance? Tailored suit, nice shoes and good paycheck, but if a guy told you three times in a row how lucky you were to meet him on a Friday at 8 pm "because he never gets out of the office on Fridays before 1 am," would you be looking forward to date that guy? I don't think so. But finance boys seem to think otherwise. It seems that in their crazy world, the more they work, the cooler they are. HOW COOL, huh? I met another finance boy on Sunday and he was so proud to be locked in his office every day from 7 am to midnight. It was almost like a badge of honor.  Well let me tell you something bo...

About Dating, Hanging Out and "Talking"

Image
Not too long ago, a cute 21 year-old asked me out. And by asked me out, I mean he asked me to be boyfriend girlfriend. He was cute, but I am 27 and don't really want to be thinking babies in 3 years when he is in Ibiza discovering what life is about before 25 --> partying.  This was basically what he said: no crazy declaration, just honesty  And yes even though I turned him down anyways, I was highly impressed by his boldness. Especially compared to most 30 year-olds who are scared of even calling a date a date ... 30 year-olds want to see you, hang out with you, "talk" with you, but oh my, don't use the D word in front of them, they will start running. Yes I said the D word, not the B word or the L word. If you use those words, they might pass out or have a heart attack. Seriously, what does "talking" even mean? It is even worse than hanging out, whatever that means. what goes through my mind when a guy asks me to hang out :-)  So ...
