What you should know when looking for an apartment in NYC

Lower your expectations, and then lower them again, and then a little bit more.  Fours years ago, when I moved to NYC, finding an apartment hadn't been easy, especially because I was used to such a beautiful apartment in Miami.  I had to come to terms with the fact that a washer and drier in the apartment was probably not going to happen, that an elevator was major luxury, and that I probably couldn't live on my own if I wanted to have money left to eat.  So now that I am moving back to NYC, well my expectations are low. I know what I am getting into and I have even embraced living with strangers. It almost feels like being in a Friends episode. I am cool with having to walk across the street to do my laundry. I am ok with not having a bathtub, even though I ADORE taking baths. Basically I am super easy going. However there are things I don't think I can deal with. How to be a MAN

I have already said this before: food + me = true love. I have also said before that I hated NYC because I was an outdoorsy kind of girl. I trekked and camped my way through Peru to get to Machu Picchu, I horseback rode through the mountains in Patagonia, I rode elephants in northern Thailand, I scuba dove in Cozumel ... So how come I fell in love with NYC? The parks ... Playing volley ball at the Chelsea Pier Park, watching an outdoor movie at Bryant Park, enjoying a picnic at Central Park, it's all the stuff that turned me into a happy city girl, it's all the stuff that made all the cement around it worth it. However, getting my boyfriend to do any of it with me was a bit of a challenge. Thankfully Charlotte was there with me. We both sucked at volley ball, but it didn't stop us. So what if we were bad? It only made it more fun. For us anyways. Unfortunately no volley ball at Holland Park, no outdoor movie screenings, and no Charlotte - would have been a bit self...
